I have exciting news for you: the USA Basketball Men’s Select Team for 2023 has been announced, and it’s packed with some incredible talent!
Cade Cunningham (Detroit Pistons), Jalen Green (Houston Rockets), and 12 other amazing players will be part of the team. They’ll be training alongside the USA Basketball Men’s National Team before the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
USA Basketball’s managing director, Grant Hill, believes this mix of young NBA players and seasoned qualifiers will be instrumental in their success at the World Cup in Manila. It’s all about developing a strong national team for the future!
Ten players on the team have previous experience with USA Basketball in senior or junior competitions, while some, like Galloway, Jenkins, and Mika, played a crucial role in helping the U.S. qualify for the World Cup.
Others, such as Cunningham, Duren, Grimes, Holmgren, and Pritchard, have already earned medals as part of USA Basketball junior national teams in various FIBA World Cup and Americas competitions.
Las Vegas will see some new faces too, with Herb Jones, Trey Murphy, Keegan Murray, and Jalen Williams participating with USA Basketball for the first time.
The roster includes an impressive ten former NBA Draft first-round picks and six players who have been named to the NBA All-Rookie First or Second Team.
Heading the team is coach Jamahl Mosley, with Jim Boylen and Matt Painter assisting him. They are excited and honored to lead the 2023 USA Select Team, knowing how crucial their role is in USA Basketball’s success.
